Year 5

Home Learning

Welcome to the Year 5 Virtual School! We know that this is a very worrying and a stressful time and we just want you to know that we are thinking of all of you all at this very uncertain time. We don’t want to add more pressure so please don’t think that the activities below are compulsory, they are simply suggestions.

Over the next coming weeks, you will establish a good routine and things will hopefully seem more settled. This is the perfect time for you to do the things that you enjoy so; play games with your family, read a book, help with the cooking, draw, paint, enjoy the outdoors and just be creative.

Scroll down to find some ideas of home learning activities.

Websites that the children already have login details for:

These are the websites that the children use regularly in class and are familiar with. The passwords were sent home at the beginning of the year and are also in their homework books. However, I understand many of the homework books may still be in school. If your child was in school on the day that we closed then they were given a list of these websites along with their login details. If your child doesn’t have this information then please get in touch with the office at: and we will send them out to you.

We also have access to some other really good websites that normally charge an annual subscription, however due to the current circumstances they are giving parents and children free access whilst schools are closed.

Writing Legends – Your child has been given login details

Education City - This is a very good website that the children use regularly in school, so they know how to navigate the site.

White Rose Maths - This is the scheme of work that we follow in school for our math lessons. They have now provided an excellent home learning section with video and math activities.

Twinkl This is a fabulous site that a lot of teachers use to get resources. You can download your own resources (printer required). Just type in this code :- UKTWINKLHELPS

Transum - - This is a fabulous math site. Check out the math games and math puzzle sections!

100 things to do indoors - Here is a great way to keep yourself and your family occupied during these uncertain times. Make staying indoors fun and use the time to help yourself and others.
