Digestive system experiment!
Y4HC have been learning about the digestive system and even carried out an experiment to mimic human digestion!
The children mixed biscuits, bananas, water and orange juice into a plastic bag (the stomach) to show how all food can be broken down.
They then transferred the mixture into a pair of tights (the large intestines) and used a tea towel (the small intestines) to show the absorption of the nutrients into the body.
The children then cut a hole in the tights to show how food passes our bodies.
Did you know it can take up to 72 hours for food to pass through our digestive system.
