Y2 - Mrs Dolan & Mrs Mitchell
Important things to Remember...
- Our PE day is a Monday. Please don't forget to bring in your P.E. kit which should be a white t-shirt, black shorts and suitable non-marking footwear or plimsoles (not black soled trainers). Jewellery should not be worn on this day and please make sure hair is tied back. We will keep their PE kit in school and will send this home every half term.
- Please make sure that your child has their name in their school uniform, PE kit and coats too. There are always many left in the classroom and around school and it is hard to identify their owner.
- Please ensure that you remember to bring your water bottle into school everyday so we can keep you hydrated and ready to learn.
- Please bring your reading book to school everyday, even if it is not ready to be changed in order for us to read your child's current book with them. Children should be reading at least 3 times a week at home.
it’s coming home!!!
We were over the moon to learn that England defeated Denmark on Wednesday night. Football’s coming home on Sunday!! Watch our New report below from Wembley, reporting on the semi finals events and thoughts on the final of the Euros.
We have been reading the Snail and the Whale and we were shocked to discover the dramatic turn of events to the whale. See our news reports below from the eyewitnesses at the scene on Seaburn beach.
A monumental trip
We were so excited to be finally out on an educational visit once again earlier this month and we had a wonderful day visiting Penshaw Monument. We climbed to the top and enjoyed the amazing view, before exploring the woods behind the monument. We loved experiencing a forest walk and it linked brilliantly to our current text, The Fox and the Star. The children enjoyed collecting sticks and making messages with them! We then walked across to Herrington Park and had an afternoon of fun, including a ride on a mini train, feeding the ducks and playing on the adventure playground.
Y2DM PENSHAW GALLERY
Our new topic is under way and we are thoroughly enjoying reading our new core text 'The Fox and the Star'. We have created viewfinders in art and experimenting with different pencils and we can't wait to create our pictures based upon the illustrations in our core text. We have also been learning about the different physical features and we have been looking at the features of where we live.
2D and 3D shapes
We have been learning about 2D and 3D shapes in Maths for the past two weeks. Year 2 have impressed us with their recall of the shape names and their properties. Fun was had by all this week when we got to make 3D shapes using cocktail sticks and marshmallows. The children worked brilliantly in teams and of course enjoyed a marshmallow treat at the end!
