Radiant Rainforests - Spring 2

Parent Workshop - 11th March

As part of British Science Week we decided to design and make planters out of milk cartons during our parent workshop. The children and parents all enjoyed themselves and the finished products look fantastic. Thank you to everyone who came!

Judo Taster Session - 10th January

The children enjoyed a Judo taster session this morning. They learnt how to perform the Judo pin and practiced this with a partner.

Christmas Party - 16th December

Year 3 enjoyed attending their first KS2 Christmas Party. There was lots of games, dancing and prizes to be won. We returned to the classroom to find lots of party food waiting for us to enjoy. A fantastic afternoon was had by all.

Autumn 2 - Raiders and Invaders

This half term our topic is Raiders and Invaders which is all about the Vikings and Anglo-Saxons. In English we have been reading the book 'Arthur and the Golden Rope' and the children have enjoyed acting out sections of the story. We created freeze frames and the children discussed which part of the story was represented by each image.

Our Visitors from Nepal - 4th December

Today, Sangeeta and Sushmita from our partner school in Nepal arrived at school for a three day visit. We were very lucky to have them in our classroom to make Christmas cards with us. They brought with them Nepali paper which was made from natural resources and was very thin. We wrote beautiful messages inside and decorated the front with drawings and glitter. A fantastic afternoon was had by all.

Parent Workshop - 3rd December

We had a fantastic turnout for our parent workshop this morning! We made calendars using Viking Runes. We each decided which letters we wanted to use in our design and decided this by looking at the meanings of each one. We used string and tin foil to create our designs which we are very proud of.

Viking Workshop - 18th November

To start off our topic we had a visit from Dr Jo Bath who told us all about life in Viking times. She brought with her many artefacts for us to look at and explore.

Broom House Farm - 22nd October

Year 3 enjoyed their Autumn term visit to Broom House Farm. Over the course of the year they will visit the farm three times in order to observe changes on the farm over Autumn, Spring and Summer. As this was our first visit, the children spent some time getting to know what happens on this working farm. We were able to help farmer Mark give the sheep their vitamins and were able to talk to him about why these are important to keep the sheep healthy. The children were excited to collect some conkers which had fallen from a tree and were able to learn the names of different trees around the farm and even completed a trail to find all of the different types of tree in the forest. The children asked fantastic questions, showing their excitement and enthusiasm whilst being fantastic role models for GPS. We can’t wait for our next visit in the Spring term!
