Reception - Miss Beetham Reception - Miss Cassidy

The Foundation Stage consists of Nursery and Reception.  The teachers in Foundation Stage are Mrs Mitchell, Miss Beetham and Miss Cassidy. We are supported by our fantastic team of nursery nurses and teaching assistants: Miss Forster, Mrs Nixon, Mrs Andrews, Mrs Eggleston, Miss Davison and Miss Pickering.

Our 2 year old provision - 'Flying Start' - was set up in September 2018, and now provides places for sixteen 2 year olds.

In Foundation Stage we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Curriculum. To find out more about the EYFS Curriculum there is a parents' guide available here.

The Foundation Stage Curriculum is designed for children between 3-5 years old, and is based on 7 areas. Children should mostly develop 3 prime areas first. These are:

  • Communication and Language
  • Physical Development; and
  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development

These prime areas are those most essential for your child’s healthy development and future learning. As children grow, the prime areas will help them to develop skills in 4 specific areas. These are:

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the World; and
  • Expressive Arts and Design.

Ofsted Inspection - June 2017

We were inspected by Ofsted in June 2017, and judged to be a Good school. Read the full report here.

"Provision in the early years is imaginative, well planned and encourages positive learning attitudes. This supports children in making good rates of progress." (Ofsted, June 2017)

"Teaching in the early years is imaginative and well planned. Children are happy, engaged and curious through the many stimulating opportunities to learn." (Ofsted, June 2017)

"The early years provides a stimulating and well-resourced environment where children are inquisitive, enthusiastic and show impressive levels of concentration. They switch effectively from adult-led activities to continuous play. Children are happy and content in this supportive environment. As one parent wrote, ‘Reception has been engaging and stimulating. My daughter loves her topics and discusses what she’s doing at school with us." (Ofsted, June 2017)
