Recently, our Drama group and some of our staff went down to Manchester to support Mrs Davies our Drama teacher. She is part of a singing group ‘Purple’ and they had auditions for the X Factor!!

It was so exciting! We were all dressed in purple and carried a fabulous Grangetown Banner. After an early 8 o’clock start and a 3-hour journey, we arrived at the hotel to pick up Mrs Davies, Jen and Emily. On the way to the G-Mex however, the bus broke down! But we didn’t let that stop us – we just grabbed our bags and started to walk.

When we arrived, it was a fantastic atmosphere with lots of contestants waiting to audition. The children were very patient as we waited in line. We were filmed many times – waiting in line, walking along corridors, chanting PURPLE, while the group were on stage and afterwards in the pod. Purple were brilliant in their audition. We got to stand in the wings while Louis Walsh, Nicole Scherzinger and Simon Cowell gave their opinions.

The highlight of the day was when we all met Dermot O’Leary who was really funny and gave us all ‘five’ when the group were finished singing. We had a fabulous day. Well done Purple!

Jordan writes: On Saturday 10th of July we went to Manchester for X-Factor, to support Mrs Davies. She was singing Evacuate the Dance Floor with Jen and Emily. They were great! The bus ride was 3 hours but it passed quickly because it was so much fun - everyone enjoyed it at Manchester. I wish I could go there again!

Tamara writes: When Mrs Davies and her group got on to the bus we all cheered. I felt very happy. Then a minute later we were there at ….X Factor! Then we had to line up for about 1 hour and 30 minutes. When we got behind the curtains we saw Dermot. Mrs Davies and her group went on stage. They sang ‘Evacuate the dance floor’ Louis said “no” Nicole said “no” and Simon said “yes”. Simon had to persuade Nicole to say yes! So they got into the Bootcamp. Me and Neve were doing X Factor songs and people took lots of pictures. I felt like I wanted to cry with joy. I was very happy.
