An actor has been
touring in a play about Robinson Crusoe. Now he is on his
way home, but after a storm he is stranded in an airport at
the far side of the world. He begins to tell the classic
story and talks to the audience about himself and his family
at home. As he gradually reveals not only the tale of the
famous castaway, but also the story of his own life, we
realise that there are many similarities between the actor
and Crusoe himself….

Earlier this month we had a visitor in our class. His name is Chris
Connaughton. He is an actor, writer and director.
He acted out a
version of his own play, Robinson Crusoe.
After we had watched the
play we asked him questions about being an actor. We ‘hot seated’
his character of Robinson Crusoe and asked him lots of interesting
questions.
We did lots of writing, including a diary of Robinson’s
first day on the Island and a character description. He also read to
us the first chapter of his book and we had to write a second
chapter.
We all had a very good day and did lots of writing.
