Year 6 World War 2 Day

WW2

Our Year 6 children had a great day to celebrate their topic ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’.

The day started with the children dressed as evacuees and singing Run Rabbit Run in the Harvest assembly. They wore their gas-mask boxes which they had made in a Maths lesson.

Back in class, the children made an identity card and then made a Union Jack flag to celebrate the end of the war.

On the afternoon, the children tasted some typical wartime food. This included Spam, jam sandwiches, fish paste sandwiches and jelly and fruit. They also tasted a sandwich filling from the war which was made from carrot, cabbage and chutney.

The children ended the day singing wartime songs in their music lesson with Mrs Bryant-King.

The children really enjoyed the day and we would like to say thank you to all the parents and carers who helped the children with their fantastic costumes.
