Stay Healthy, Stay Safe Week

Stay Healthy...

To ‘kick start’ the week we had a visit from a local Karate instructor who led several taster sessions across the day. The children now have the chance - if they wish - to continue learning Karate as an out of school activity.

On Tuesday the children took part in sports day. For once the sun was shining and the children had lots of fun completing different races.

Year 2 were lucky enough to go to Seaburn beach the following day to meet the lifeguards and have a water safety presentation.

Some of the other activities throughout the week included a visit from PC Hewitt, a police officer from Sunderland Constabulary, footballers from Newcastle Ladies football team and the School Nurse who worked with children and discussed staying safe in the sun and keeping our bodies hydrated.

Lorraine Leadbitter from Sunderland Council also talked about staying safe on and near the roads, and Dr Bike came back into school to lead workshops related to ‘heart-health’.

To finish off we had coaches in from AAA sports who led taster sessions in gymnastics and cheerleading.

The children have thoroughly enjoyed all the activities and have learnt a great deal about how to stay safe and be healthy. Also, we are extremely grateful to the local organisatiions and individuals who came into school and contributed to the Week - THANKYOU! - well done everyone!
