David hArMer visits GPS!

david horner

Recently we enjoyed a very enjoyable morning with poet David Harmer. He did an assembly for the whole school, and then worked with year 2 and year 4. Below, the children from those classes provide a short account of the workshops.

Dominic (yr 2) writes: I really enjoyed it when the poet came into our class. He brought lots of books that had his poems in. He let me come to the front of the class to do some actions about a poem. I had to pretend to be a monster. I thought the best poem was the one he made up about different sandwiches because it rhymed. He was really funny and I would love it if he could come into my class again.

Jessica R and Kayleigh (year 4) write: On Friday 8 November David Harmer, a poet, came to our school. He was very funny and made all the children laugh. He did an assembly for the whole school and shared some of his poems including ‘Mr Moore’ and another about pirates. Then he came to year 4, where he read us a poem called ‘Don’t mock a giant’, it was very funny and year 4 really enjoyed it. Also, he read a poem about not trusting your teacher! We also had the chance to make up a short class poem about playground games – he showed us how easy it was to do. We really enjoyed David Harmer coming in and would love to work with him again.
