The Foundation Stage consists of Nursery and Reception.  The teachers in Foundation Stage are Miss Booth, Mrs Mitchell and Miss Tose.  We are supported by our fantastic teaching assistants Mrs Dobson, Miss Lloyd and Mrs Andrews.

In Foundation Stage we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Curriculum.  To find out more about the EYFS Curriculum there is a parents' guide available, click here.

The Foundation Stage Curriculum for children between 3-5 years old is based on 7 areas.

Children should mostly develop 3 prime areas first. These are:

  • Communication and Language
  • Physical Development; and
  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development

These prime areas are those most essential for your child’s healthy development and future learning.

As children grow, the prime areas will help them to develop skills in 4 specific areas. These are:

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the World; and
  • Expressive Arts and Design

  •  Achievement is good in all subjects and for all groups of pupils. (Ofsted Inspection Report, February 2013)

  • Behaviour is outstanding because the school succeeds in encouraging pupils to behave well. Pupils have a thorough understanding of how to keep themselves safe. (Ofsted Inspection Report, February 2013)

  • The school is a welcoming place. Relationships are strong, care and support excellent, and so pupils are keen to learn and eager to come to school. (Ofsted Inspection Report, February 2013)

We were inspected by Ofsted in February 2013.  Grangetown Primary School was judged to be a good school and we achieved outstanding for behaviour.  Read the full report here.
