Mrs Taylor's class

Welcome to Year 4 class page.

We have had a lovely year together and had many great times! I wish all of the children luck in Year5. Below are a few photographs taken during Spanish Day which was earlier this week. Enjoy the summer!

Other information:

  • Wednesday - Library slot
  • Wednesday - PE (outdoor kit needed)
  • Homework will be given out on a Friday and needs to be returned the following Monday.
  • Children are also given times tables and spellings to learn each week for a mini test on a Friday.

Previous Activities:

To start our topic we visited Backhouse park to measure trees and calculate their age. Below are some pictures of us enjoying this activity:

In Geography, we have looked at where rainforests are in the world and why. We have completed a mini biography about Roald Dahl and started to read Fantastic Mr Fox. Shortly, we will be visited from Zoolab with rainforest animals and visiting Sunderland Museum to become Rainforest Explorers.

In Literacy, we have been looking at persuasive adverts. We used Talk for Writing techniques to learn an advert from a farm. Then, using this as a guide we then wrote an advert for 'Fantastic Mr Fox's underground World'. Finally, we put everything we had discovered into our own persuasive piece about Grangetown Primary. Here is McKenzie's version, we think it's great and very persuasive:

Are you looking for a new school kids? Has your school got horrible dinners? Are you getting bullied? Why not head straight to Grangetown Primary School?

If you’re hoping to come to our school just to give you some advice: years 4, 5 and 6 go swimming at Southmour Academy. Also children under aged not ready for school can come in and get different activities in the community room .In year 6 they have a cool xbox 360 it’s awesome.

We’ve got an awesome courtyard where you can garden. Reception has a cool rabbit called Smudge (he is Miss Booth’s rabbit). Also, we’ve got a massive field where you can run forever!

We are open at 8:50am and we finish at 3:20pm. Also we have sometimes pizza for dinner!

Enjoy, respect, achieve. Reach for the stars at Grangetown!
