This page gives you a schedule for a typical day at GPS. Below, you can see how our days are structured for Foundation Stage (Nursery & Reception), Key Stage 1 (years 1 & 2) and Key Stage 2 (years 3,4,5,6).

Foundation Stage

8.50 Children enter the Unit
8.50-9.00 Early Bird activity (e.g. writing name)
9.00 Key Group Time (Register & Welcome)
9.05-9.25 Literacy/Numeracy group time
9.25-10.25 Access to continuous provision, plus adult-led activities
10.25-10.45 Phonics
10.45-11.45 Access to continuous provision, plus adult-led activities
11.50 Home time for Nursery / lunchtime for Reception
12.00-1.00 Lunch break for Reception children

Start of Afternoon Nursery

Group Time - Welcome to nursery

12.15-1.00

For Nursery children: Access to continuous provision,

plus a phonics session

1.00-1.05 Key Group Time (afternoon registration)
1.05-1.25 Literacy/Numeracy group time (children divided into sets)
1.25-2.50 Access to continuous provision, & adult led activities
2.50 Story time

Parents & carers can collect their children. Children are

released only when we see a parent or carer.

Key Stage 1

8.45 A member of staff is 'on-duty' in the playground
8.50 Children enter classrooms
9.00 - 9.30 Intervention groups - phonics
9.30 - 10.30 Learning session
10.30 - 10.45 Assembly (Tues is class assemblies; Friday's assembly is 10.15-10.30)
10.45 - 11.00 Break (toast available Tues & Thurs - 10p a slice!)
11.00 - 12.00 Learning session
12.00 - 1.00 Lunchtime break
1.00 - 3.15

Afternoon learning session. A 10 minute  outdoor or indoor

break will be built into the afternoon in Key Stage 1)

End of the day. Parents can collect their children. Children in years

3 & 4 are released only when we see a parent or carer. Children in

years 5 & 6 can go home on their own only if we have received

written permission from a parent/carer.
