Admissions - apply for a place at GPS

If you would like to enquire about a place for your child, please call at the school, telephone us on 553 7647, or click here to email us. Mrs Lowden or Mrs Wilson, our Admin Officers, will be glad to help you. Admission forms are available from school, or from Sunderland Council - see below (the Council also has a link to enable online applications).

As a local authority school, our Admission procedures are set out on the Sunderland Council website, here. That page includes a link to apply online for a school place.

All admission arrangements for 2016-17 are set out in a booklet produced by the Council. You can view and/or download it by clicking here.

Children start school on a part-time basis in our Nursery class in the January, April or September following their 3rd birthday. A Nursery place is provided on the basis of 15 hours per week, taken either in the morning or the afternoon. We also offer 'top-up' sessions, enabling you to book extra half-days, on top of the 15 hours, for a reasonable fee - please contact our Office if you would like more information about this.

Admission to Reception

Children start school full time in the September following their 4th birthday. Please note that acceptance to the Nursery class will not guarantee admission to the Reception class; parents will still need to apply for a place in Reception, in the usual way.

If you wish to transfer from another school or have recently moved to the area and would like to enquire about a place for your child at Grangetown, please contact Mrs Lowden or Mrs Wilson in our school office, on 0191 553 7647.
